5 tips for your engagement session

First, I want to start off by saying that I 100% think that every couple planning to get married should get engagement photos. This is a time for you to get used to posing in front of the camera and to get to know your photographer. With that said let's get started with the top 5 tips:

#1: Get the photos done by your wedding photographer

I would recommend getting your engagement photos taken by the person who will be photographing your wedding. It gives you all a chance to form a bond with your photographer. Instead of some random person you never met showing up to photograph one of the most special days in your life. Engagement photos are complimentary with all my wedding packages for this reason right here. I want to go on a mini adventure with my couples and learn a little more about them and their relationship. I will admit, that some couples have their engagement photos done elsewhere, in a different state, or just aren't interested in getting engagement photos done. But in my honest opinion, it makes the wedding day be that much smoother.

#2: When should you schedule your engagement photos?

I get asked this question a lot, and I always tell my clients to book their engagement sessions 6-8 months out from their wedding date. That will give the photographer enough time to edit the photos and it also leaves enough time to use the photos in the Save-the-Dates (if the couple chooses to do so.) My turn around time for an engagement session is 1-2 weeks, but each photographer is different; so make sure to ask.

#3: Use this day to try out your MUA

Some make-up artists give their brides a free or discounted make-up trial. This would be the perfect opportunity to test out your MUA's skills. You can see how well the make-up photographs or if you'd like to change anything for your wedding day.

#4 : Get a manicure

Make sure your nails are done. There will be close-ups of your beautiful ring and you want to make sure nails look nice. If you don't have time to get a manicure, then stop by Target or Ulta and grab yourself the glue/stick-on nails. I have used those for my own photos and they look great!

#5: Make a date out of it

Since you are already dressed up and out of the house, it is the perfect opportunity to go on a date with your fiance. Forget the stress of wedding planning and go have some fun! Dinner, drinks, bowling, a picnic, axe throwing...whatever you enjoy :)
